Guardian Home Information

A guardian home provides one of our breeding dogs with a family of its own to bond with and love and the family with a wonderful dog while continuing to participate in furthering the best of the breed.

Requirements:

  • Guardian family must live within a 150 mile radius of Colorado Springs, Colorado

  • Guardian family must feed a high quality dog food that Penny Lane approves.

  • Guardian family must consult with Penny Lane regarding health care and regular grooming.

  • Provide a safe environment that includes fenced yard. 

  • Family must notify Penny Lane as soon as girl comes into heat and take precautions to keep unaltered males away. If girl is to be bred, transport her to Penny Lane for approximately 1 week and then pick her up. If girl is due to whelp, transport her to Penny Lane at 5 to 7 days before delivery and pick her up approximately 8 weeks after delivery. Family is welcome to schedule visits while dog is at Penny Lane.

  • Guardian family is to provide basic and intermediate obedience training – a group class or with an individual trainer. Guardian family must ensure dog is leashed trained, potty trained and crate trained and ensure that the dog/puppy is well socialized.

  • A willingness to accept and follow Penny Lane’s recommendations for the dog/puppy’s basic health care and veterinarian care, such as vaccine schedules, the use of certain medications, etc. - Transport Dog to Penny Lane for additional health testing (for approximately 1 week) at 9 months of age, but also upon Penny Lane’s discretion of date.

  • Penny Lane will cover all veterinary expenses and give shots as appropriate as well as provide rabies, etc. if dog is transported to Penny Lane. If Guardian family wishes to take the dog to a vet of their own nearby, guardian family must notify Penny Lane as to which veterinarian for approval, notify Penny Lane when there is a scheduled appointment and forward all vaccination records and paperwork associated with each visit as well.

  • If guardian family chooses to take the dog/puppy to their own vet, guardian family accepts all charges incurred at their veterinarian.

  • A willingness to maintain open lines of communications with Penny Lane with any matter related to the dog/puppy by providing Penny Lane a monthly update on the dog/puppy at the first of every month.

  • Notify Penny Lane of new contact information if there is any change in telephone number or address.

  • Upon completion/fulfillment of the guardian home contract, dog will be spay/neutered and ownership will be transferred from Penny Lane Australian Labradoodles to guardian home.
